How do I know if my gearbox needs an overhaul or just a repair?
A repair typically addresses a single failed component – a bearing, seal, or coupling that has worn out or failed. An overhaul involves fully disassembling the gearbox, inspecting every internal component, and rebuilding it to manufacturer specifications. If your gearbox is showing signs of excessive heat, unusual noise, vibration, or oil contamination, a full overhaul is usually the right call – a repair alone may fix the symptom without addressing the underlying cause. At T&M Mechanical Millwrights we inspect and diagnose before recommending anything, so you only pay for what your equipment actually needs.
What industries do you serve?
We work with various industries including marine, industrial, commercial, manufacturing, construction, and agriculture. Our goal is to provide mechanical solutions tailored to your industry’s needs.
What is the difference between a mechanic and a millwright?
A mechanic specializes in repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment – engines, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, and hydraulic systems. A millwright is a specialized industrial tradesperson who focuses on the installation, alignment, and relocation of heavy machinery and equipment. In practice, the two trades overlap significantly on industrial job sites. At T&M Mechanical Millwrights, our team is trained in both disciplines, meaning we can handle everything from a pump repair or gearbox overhaul to precision equipment alignment and machinery installation, all under one contractor.
